The 2017 School Year Begins!

Today is the first day of the 2017 school year at Barwon Heads Primary School in Victoria, Australia.

After nearly six weeks of summer holidays, Miss Jordan is excited to begin the school year with her new students in her new grade 3/4C.

We have a lot to look forward to this year including our 1:1 iPad program, Bike Ed, our camps and many, many fun learning experiences!

All of the students in 3/4C will learn a lot in 2017 and enjoy being part of a wonderful classroom community. This blog will be a big part of our program and it is a great way for students, parents and families to reflect and share in our learning experiences.

Term One Reflections

We are currently on school holidays after a fun and busy term one.

Last week the students in 4A and 4B reflected on their term one learning by creating slideshows on their iPads.

To complete this task, students had to:

  • Become familiar with the presentation app, Keynote
  • Take photos of their work samples from the term
  • Write about different aspects of their learning
  • Format their Keynote presentation
  • Upload their presentation (as a PDF or PowerPoint document) to Showbie.

Showbie is Miss Jordan’s new favourite iPad app! After Miss Jordan set up her teacher account and set up classes, students had to enter the class code and could see the tasks she set. It is easy for students to upload their work for the set tasks using apps on their iPad. It makes it simple for Miss Jordan to collect all of the students’ iPad work and give them feedback.

Once completed and uploaded to Showbie, Miss Jordan could access all of the students’ presentations. Miss Jordan then opened up the Keynote presentations in Google Drive in order to embed them here on the class blog.

Here are three of our term reflections.

* Please note – animations and special affects are lost when Keynote presentations are converted and uploaded to Showbie.

Welcome To A New School Year!

Today is the first day of the 2014 school year at Barwon Heads Primary School in Victoria, Australia.

After nearly six weeks of summer holidays, Miss Jordan is very happy to join Barwon Heads Primary School! It is an exciting time for Miss Jordan as she continues her teaching journey at a new school with her fabulous grade four students.

We have a lot to look forward to this year including our new 1:1 iPad program, Bike Ed and our camp to Anglesea.

Miss Jordan is certain all the students in 4B will learn a lot in 2014 and enjoy being part of a wonderful classroom community. This blog will be a big part of our classroom program and Miss Jordan can’t wait to teach the students all about educational blogging. Miss Jordan’s class will be learning with the students in Miss Curtain’s class, 4A, in a big double classroom. Together, we are going to have a wonderful year!

Miss Jordan welcomes the students in 4B to the 2014 school year and she looks forward to hearing how they all spent their holidays.

Miss Jordan travelled back to her family’s home in Pomonal (near Halls Gap) for her Christmas celebrations. In January she  enjoyed seeing friends, exercising, going shopping, cooking, painting, relaxing and reading. She helped to organise some last minute details for her sister’s upcoming wedding. Miss Jordan also spent some time at school setting up her new classroom.
